Special Abilities Rake (Ex) If a feral mother starts her turn grappling a foe she gains 2 additional claw attacks at +13 to hit and 1d4+4 damage. Spawn Baby Bugs (Ex) If a feral mother is reduced to 0 or less hp or after 4 days a swarm of baby bugs erupts from her body. This effect deals 4d6 Constitution damage to the feral mother. The strength of the baby bug swarm depends on how long the feral mother carried them. Each day the swarm gains ¼ of its max hit points (typically 11hp per day). If the feral mother is killed or if the swarm is driven out via the following spells, dispel evil, limited wish, remove curse,or wish then the swarm takes 4d6 damage.
Anyone who survives a baby bug spawning will slowly (over the course of several weeks) regain their memories, alignment and class abilities. A wish spell can revert them to their normal selves without penalty though it is not unknown for survivors to take their own lives after what they've experienced. The most terrifying aspect to this is how easily, during recovery, a surviving feral mother can be turned into a hag. Often a coven which hears about a baby bug attack will investigate and try to find survivors which they bring into the fold and transform into hags. This transformation removes most of the emotions attached to their experience. Some view it as a mercy. Feral Mothers appear as themselves, but with wicked black claws, black jagged teeth and yellow glowing eyes. Their bodies become hairy and they look obviously pregnant. A wicked scar can be seen across her stomach, the place where her false child was reinserted. Feral Mothers survive in the wild hunting animals for sustenance, but will attack and kill humanoids if it can.
